Lucky Mouse Avoids Death by Mousetrap

"Build a better mousetrap, and the world will beat a path to your door," said Ralph Waldo Emerson. And yet here we are in 2011 and mousetraps are essentially the same as they've been since the nineteenth century. That's because they've always been simple and effective. But that doesn't mean they're perfect or foolproof. Many a wily mouse has scored a free chunk of cheese or bit of peanut butter while managing to avoid doom. Here's one such mouse who was able to sneak a snack and then go back for more, all due to a trap that was napping on the job instead of snapping on the job.

Cat Naps in Its Basket for 4 1/2 Hours

This article is from Paw Nation

Not everybody is a cat person. Because I'm an open-minded guy, I have friends who aren't cat people. They ask me about it. They ask me, "Why do you like cats?" They also ask, "What's so special about them?" These are hard questions to answer, because the mystique of cats is so difficult to define.

I think this video is going to help me a lot from now on. If you're a non-cat-person and you want some insight into what makes cats great, watch this video. Watch the whole thing. It's only four hours, 37 minutes and 59 seconds long. I'll wait.

...

You're back? Did you watch the video? Good! Now you should have a pretty good idea about what makes cats so awesome.

Comfy Kitten Sleeps on Its Own Head

This article is from Paw Nation

All cat owners come across their pets sleeping or lying in awkward positions from time to time, but this is really beyond beyond. Did the cat struggle to find that spot? Did it shift around from position to position until it found one that felt just right? Or did it find itself that way accidentally, and decided to just stay put? In what world could this possibly be comfortable for any living thing? If anything, this assures me that we should stop trying to understand our cats. They are simply unknowable.

While your veterinarian diagnoses and prescribes for your dog's health issues, canine first aid as well as minor problems may benefit from human medicines. Let's face it, Fido rarely tears a claw or eats something iffy during regular clinic hours, so it's helpful to know how to use your pantry supplies and human medicine chest to help your dog. Some people prescriptions can be dangerous (especially for cats!) so it's a good idea to have a handy list.

First aid and home remedies don't replace proper veterinary care, but they can keep dogs more comfy until medical care is available. And sometimes a home remedy is all that's needed. Even if human meds work on dogs, the doses usually are lower due to the smaller size of the dog.
