Local animal shelter sees increase

The holiday season is a time for giving and caring, but that has not been the case for a number of the area's pet population as the Elizabethton Carter County Animal Shelter has seen an increase in abused or neglected animals in the past few weeks.In one week, the shelter received four dogs that had been starved almost to the point of death. For the shelter, this is a large jump from the number of abused animals that are normally accepted.
