Area humane societies praise new dog regulations

Area humane societies are hailing the state Assembly’s unanimous approval of new regulations for dog breeders as an important first step toward reigning in puppy mills in the state.
Under the measure, breeders who sell more than 25 dogs annually would have to get a license.
The state would investigate the breeder before issuing a license and could suspend or revoke it for violations.

Man arrested by armed officers

A man was arrested by armed response officers in a village near West Malling, Kent, following reports of an individual with a handgun, police said.
The man was spotted in the area of Taylors Lane, Trottiscliffe at around 7.40pm on Thursday.
A police dog was used to track him before he was arrested and taken into custody.

Windsor Heights officials are eying a piece of property in Urbandale for the possible creation of a dog park to be shared by the two communities.
Windsor Heights City Administrator Marketa Oliver said the city was approached by Urbandale about pursuing a joint dog park.
