Warren officials brainstorm ideas for Fishnet land

Warren County residents want access to more hiking trails, athletic fields and golf courses, and they are hoping the county’s Fishnet property will be a prime location for those and other purposes.

County officials held a public forum at the North Warren Fire Department Hall on Wednesday afternoon to get more feedback on a master plan in the works for the 219-acre Fishnet property on Rockland Road, which the county purchased for $3.5 million.

The property, which used to be a ministry, already has pavilions, campsites and playground areas.

It’s taken longer than he planned, but House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank appears to be closing in on the support he needs to create a new federal agency to oversee mortgages, credit cards and other consumer products of the financial services industry.

Frank’s revisions to the proposed consumer financial protection agency are being widely praised by a bloc of moderate Democrats on his panel who had real problems with aspects of the original White House plan.
